Mask Distribution at Flatbush Gardens aka Vanderveer in the Flatbush Community.

Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at 11am

Community Leader Anthony Beckford was able to secure 1,000 face masks through Borough President Eric Adams. The masks will be handed out throughout the buildings to all residents. A quick meet up will happen at 10:45 am on the corner of New York and Foster Avenues.

"During this pandemic many of us advocates have had to step up even more due to the lack of response from the city and some elected officials who seem to be ignoring the cries of our communities. After many reports of price gauging, lack of distribution sites in many of our vulnerable communities, and the recent incidents of bias social distance policing by the NYPD against Black men and youth, it became even more of a priority to get masks into the hands of community members. I called on the Borough President to help with this issue and he answered the call without hesitation. The masks will be given out along with hand sanitizers that I have been making ever since the shortage of products and the stay-at-home orders. This is what true advocacy and leadership looks like." - Anthony Beckford
