District Leader Anthony Beckford


District Leader Anthony Beckford represents the 43rd New York State Assembly District, which includes Flatbush, Crown Heights, Prospect Lefferts Gardens and East Flatbush. District Leader Beckford is the son of immigrant parents from Jamaica, a Single Father, Entrepreneur, Mentor and a United States Marine Corps Veteran. District Leader Anthony Beckford is the 3rd Vice Chair of the Kings County Democratic County Committee, as well as the Chair of both the Rules and Public Relations Committee in the Brooklyn Democratic Party. His time as an advocate started at the age of 12 years old, when he stopped the racist plans to rezone our school district, which meant displacements and the removal of critical funding from our public schools. He has been an iconic voice throughout the Black Lives Matter movement in Brooklyn and throughout New York City, by not only demanding justice and change, but helping to push the passing of key legislative measures and policies to bring about accountability and justice. District Leader Anthony Beckford has also been a consistent advocate when it comes to truly affordable housing, adequate funding and resources for education, expansion on services and programming for our seniors and families, as well as the fight against gun violence. District Leader Anthony Beckford is a recipient of various awards and honors in regards to his advocacy, business and leadership in New York City.
